KILIFI, Kenya \u2014 Wiper Patriotic Front leader Kalonzo Musyoka has proposed former Cabinet Secretary Aisha Jumwa for the position of Deputy Party Leader.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kalonzo made the announcement on Friday, August 14, 2026, during a visit to Jumwa at her residence in Kakuyuni, Kilifi County.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He said Jumwa\u2019s political experience and national stature made her a suitable candidate for a senior leadership position within the party.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The proposal comes shortly after Jumwa left the ruling United Democratic Alliance (UDA).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She is also expected to pursue the Kilifi gubernatorial seat on a Wiper Patriotic Front ticket in the 2027 General Election.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kalonzo said Jumwa would be given a senior position in Wiper, describing the proposed appointment as an opportunity to recognise her political experience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, the appointment is yet to be formally concluded, with the party expected to deliberate on the proposal before making an official announcement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jumwa, a former Kilifi Woman Representative and Malindi MP, previously served in President William Ruto\u2019s Cabinet before leaving government.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Her move to Wiper is expected to strengthen the party\u2019s presence at the Coast as political parties position themselves ahead of the 2027 General Election.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The development comes as Kalonzo and other opposition leaders continue efforts to expand their political support across the country ahead of the 2027 polls.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
