Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP) leader Rigathi Gachagua\u2019s convoy came under attack on Friday, August 14, 2026, during his political tour of Nakuru County.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The incident occurred in Kaptembwa, within Nakuru Town West Constituency, where several vehicles in Gachagua\u2019s motorcade were reportedly damaged after being pelted with stones.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Images from the scene showed vehicles with shattered windscreens and windows.Gachagua, who spoke on Saturday after opening a DCP office in Nakuru, accused Nakuru Governor Susan Kihika and Nakuru Town West MP Samuel Arama of being behind the attack.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He alleged that the attackers used stones, axes and other crude weapons, while police officers watched without intervening.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The allegations have not been independently established.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Gachagua said the incident would not stop him from conducting political activities in Nakuru.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Instead, he vowed to increase his presence in the county as he prepares his party for the 2027 General Election.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Other opposition leaders have condemned the incident and called for investigations into the attack.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

People\u2019s Liberation Party leader Martha Karua described the reported violence as a threat to Kenya\u2019s democratic space and called for an independent investigation into claims that political actors may have been involved.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The attack has renewed concerns over political violence as political parties intensify mobilisation ahead of the 2027 General Election.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
