The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has claimed that former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua was in communication with individuals linked to the murder investigation of mental health researcher Dr. Victoria Nthunya Mutiso.
Speaking during a press briefing on Friday, DCI Director Mohamed Amin said investigators had established communication between Gachagua and one of the key suspects, as well as the boda boda rider believed to have been involved in the fatal attack. Amin questioned why the information was not shared with investigators, saying it could have aided the ongoing inquiry.
The former Deputy President challenged detectives to record his statement at his home if they required his account.The investigation into Dr. Mutiso’s murder remains active, and the allegations made by the DCI have not been tested in court. No findings of criminal liability have been made against Gachagua.
