Chao’s rapidly erupted during the kariobangi sharks and Mombasa united match.
The highly anticipated clash at Ulinzi Sports Complex in Nairobi began with Mombasa United holding a 2–1 advantage from the first leg in Mombasa. The match was crucial because the winner would secure a place in Kenya’s top flight.
Mombasa United started strongly, taking the lead early through Jamal “Messi”, who headed in from a corner. Kariobangi Sharks responded with pressure and eventually equalised through captain Patila Omoto’s free-kick. Sharks then completed the comeback when Douglas Omanga scored to make it 2–1, bringing the aggregate score to 3–3.
The beginning of Chao’s;
In the 66th minute, referee John Sulwe awarded Mombasa United a penalty after judging that a Sharks defender pulled an opponent’s shirt inside the box during a corner kick. The decision incited fury from the Kariobangi Sharks players and fans.
Supporters breached security and invaded the pitch, forcing security details and the Kenya Defence Forces to rescue and escort the referee off the field safely.Eventully the he penalty was never taken, the match was called off, and the ultimate decision on promotion and disciplinary action rests with the Football Kenya Federation.

Likely outcome:
The FKF Leagues and Competitions Committee are reviewing reports from referee John Sulwe, the match commissioner, and security officers to determine disciplinary sanctions and the official match outcome.
Under Article 3.5.6 of the FKF Rules, a club forfeits an abandoned match if its fans cause the disruption. Because Kariobangi Sharks supporters initiated the pitch invasion, the match is heavily expected to be awarded to Mombasa United, which would hand them automatic promotion and relegate the Shark.
