KILIFI, Kenya — Wiper Patriotic Front leader Kalonzo Musyoka has proposed former Cabinet Secretary Aisha Jumwa for the position of Deputy Party Leader.
Kalonzo made the announcement on Friday, August 14, 2026, during a visit to Jumwa at her residence in Kakuyuni, Kilifi County.
He said Jumwa’s political experience and national stature made her a suitable candidate for a senior leadership position within the party.
The proposal comes shortly after Jumwa left the ruling United Democratic Alliance (UDA).
She is also expected to pursue the Kilifi gubernatorial seat on a Wiper Patriotic Front ticket in the 2027 General Election.
Kalonzo said Jumwa would be given a senior position in Wiper, describing the proposed appointment as an opportunity to recognise her political experience.
However, the appointment is yet to be formally concluded, with the party expected to deliberate on the proposal before making an official announcement.
Jumwa, a former Kilifi Woman Representative and Malindi MP, previously served in President William Ruto’s Cabinet before leaving government.
Her move to Wiper is expected to strengthen the party’s presence at the Coast as political parties position themselves ahead of the 2027 General Election.
The development comes as Kalonzo and other opposition leaders continue efforts to expand their political support across the country ahead of the 2027 polls.
